PostHeaderIcon How To Paint Furniture

The first step when painting furniture would be to turn it upside down and paint the inner regions as this way you are less likely to get messy. Cover the ground surface with newspapers before you start in order to protect your leather sofas and dining room furniture, although you’d actually be better off painting somewhere like your garage.

If the furniture you are painting is wooden, you must make sure that the surface is even and has been primed first. You can use a sander to get an even surface and then use a primer. You should also strip any paint that is already on it. Sponge sanders and paint stripper is available from DIY stores.

Prime the furniture, especially if the wood has a stain that is still present after sanding and stripping.

Use small amounts of paint at a time. If you are planning to use spray paints, make sure you wear a mask to avoid inhalation.

Latex paint is good for furniture and indoor use. Wait before applying a second coat – at least two days is best.

For an interesting finish, you can use a variety of techniques, including sponging and stencilling, and both are good for children’s furniture.

Sponging provides a textured look and can be achieved by using a synthetic sponge. After applying a base coat, add a coat of glaze and then dab with a sponge.

Stencils are available from most DIY and art shops and can add interesting designs to furniture (and walls). Holding the stencil in place, simply dab paint over it. Remove the stencil afterwards.

It’s not new idea at all, I mean an invisible mirrored house, but it has been built firstly, in Sweden. They say that it is a hotel unit that includes a kitchen, sleeping area, living area and a terrace. No doubt it looks marvelously.
